One thing I've realised over the years is that being good at what you do is not the only thing that matters. You can be very talented. You can have the certificates. You can have the experience. You can even be the best person for the job. But if you're difficult to work with, people will remember that too. I've worked with different people, and one thing I appreciate so much is someone who communicates properly. Someone who says, "I don't understand this, please explain." Someone who says, "I'm going to be late with this." Someone who asks questions instead of assuming. Someone who can receive correction without taking it personally. Someone who doesn't disappear when things get difficult. Honestly, these things matter. Because nobody wants to work with someone who is brilliant but gives them a headache every single day. And this applies whether you're working for someone, running a business, freelancing, or even working with people on a personal project. Your attitude is part of your skill set. Your communication is part of your professionalism. Your ability to take responsibility is part of what makes people trust you. And sometimes, the reason someone keeps choosing you isn't because you're the most talented person they've ever worked with. It's because you're reliable. You make their life easier. And I think that's something we don't talk about enough. So yes, keep learning. Keep improving your skills. Keep building your portfolio. But also, learn how to be a good person to work with. Because the list is by no means exhaustive, but I've learnt that people may forget exactly what you did, but they rarely forget how working with you made them feel. 🤎
